Government pays tribute to late Chief Madziwa

AN official send-off ceremony has been held for the late Chief Madziwa who died on the 16th of April and was buried in a traditional burial ceremony. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Traditional leaders, government officials, relatives and friends of the late Edward Pasuwawiri who served as Chief Madziwa converged in the Goora area of Shamva District on Tuesday, for an official send-off ceremony for the traditional leader. 

 

Chief Madziwa died after serving only eight months of his tenure having been appointed in August last year.

 

His relatives are at a loss of words saying the void he has left will be difficult to fill. 

 

 “I am at a loss for words following the passing on of my young brother," said one of the relatives.

 

Another added, "He was a pillar to the family.” 

 

“I spent months travelling around with my brother to get treatment, but it was to no avail, so I am in pain,” another noted.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Christopher Magomo, Chief Nyamaropa and Mount Darwin South Legislator, Honourable Kudakwashe Mupamhanga led officials in paying tribute to Chief Madziwa. 

 

“The government mourns with you, the President whom I am representing mourns with you, we are together in our grief,” said Honourable Magomo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Senator Chief Nyamaropa added, “No one knows the hour that the Lord has set for us, death is the way for all mankind so please do not lose hope.”

 

“We are here to say rest in peace Chief Madziwa, you have played your part and what’s left is for us all to play ours,” said Honourable Mupamhanga.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Born on the 14th of August in 1976, Edward Pasuwawiri did his primary and secondary education at Mutungagore. 

 

He trained as a welder and worked for Zimbabwe Iron and Steel Company (ZISCO) and Steel makers in Kwekwe, before moving to Arcadia Gold Mine in 2009 where he worked until 2016. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He was appointed Chief on the 8th of August last year. 

 

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Mhlanga and six children.
