A decision on whether to open schools for the second term on 28 June will be made this week, a senior government official has said. The National Taskforce on COVID-19 will meet early this week to deliberate on schools opening and then forward its recommendations to Cabinet. Chief co-ordinator of the National Response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Agnes Mahomva, told State media that a final decision will be made this week. United States to donate US $4,6 million on rural communities of zimbabwe

ZIMBABWE is set to receive US$4,6 million from the United States for alleviation of the impact of COVID-19 on rural communities. This was announced on Thursday by Jeremy Konyndyk, executive director of the US Agency for International Development, a humanitarian organisation funded by the US government. The money comes as a reprieve for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s cash-strapped government, which has failed to give its citizens social grants to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
